CrossFit has been around for quite some time but is still an upcoming sport/training routine. Therefore I placed 10 tips to succeed in Crossfit.
1. It's not about speed, it's about technique. The thing which can be perceived as speed should be seen ass explosiveness. A good technique is important to prevent injuries.
2. Training will get you there. This is true up till a certain point like most athletes will tell you nutrition will get you all the way.
3. Use that motivation to excel. Don't be afraid to aim high, but make it realistic. For instance don't think you'll look like a bodybuilder without the use of supplements or that you will have a six-pack within a week. Which lead to our fourth tip.
4. Keep a clear eye on your goals. If you want that beach body before summer take that as a goal and mark a specific date in your calendar (because the summer is quite long you know). If you didn't reach your goal don't feel bad about it, you should already made some improvements and keep on working on your goals but whatever you do don't abandon them.
5. Be strict in what you do, sure you can eat a slice of pizza once in a while and don't feel bad about it. But don't do it on a regular basis. Or it's OK to skip a training session because you had a thing, but don't skip a session because you didn't feel like it today.
6. Don't over train. A mistake many people make is training 7 days a week 2 hours a day. Many personal trainers will agree that it is important for your body to rest. Rest reduces the risk of injuries and makes your body recover.
7. Start slow. Whether if you're a beginner or advanced you should always start slow. For a beginner this can mean that you can't do the full program the first week or even longer but you should develop it in stages. (Think of it as you can't run the marathon without any training) For an advanced person this could mean that you should always do a warming-up to reduce injuries.
8. Listen to your body, for it is your body. Don't misuse this point! for it is the path to quitting. What it means is that when your body can't handle for instance the weight of the dumbbell or barbell, lower the weight and build up to the weight you couldn't handle before. Or when you feel an injury don't keep on training that body part, switch to something else. But always push yourself for it is the only way to achieve goals.
9. Be diverse, your muscles are developing, but keep the exercises diverse to maximize your results.
10. Keep the fun in it. If the fun goes, your motivation goes it's as simple as that so it is important to keep it fun. How? Listen to your favorite music, bring along a friend, give yourself a reward when you meet a certain goal, whatever works for you.
